What inspired you to work in education recruitment?

My passion for education recruitment began when I became a mother. Placing my daughter into someone else’s care from just 8 months old was one of the hardest decisions I’ve ever had to make. It made me truly understand how important it is to find the right environment, not just a place, but a setting with the right values, principles, and, most importantly, the right people. After searching for the right preschool, I experienced first-hand the impact that a strong team can have on a child and their family. The leadership team, teaching staff, support staff, kitchen staff (who made those all-important lunches!), and site team all played a huge role in creating a safe, nurturing, and inspiring environment for my daughter to learn and grow. That experience shaped my perspective and became the foundation of my journey into education recruitment.

As a single mum, the education system and the people within it played a fundamental role in supporting both me and my daughter. It showed me just how powerful the right staff can be — not only in educating children, but in supporting families and shaping futures. This is why I feel so passionate about what I do. For me, it’s about more than filling roles, it’s about finding the right people for schools. People who understand the responsibility they carry, the value they bring, and the impact they can have as role models in a child’s life. I am particularly passionate about ensuring candidates recognise the importance of adapting to each child’s individual needs, especially in today’s diverse and ever-evolving education system. The right candidate can build confidence, provide stability, and genuinely change a child’s experience of education. That’s what drives me every day, knowing that placing the right person in the right role can make a lasting difference to a child, a school, and a wider community.

What’s your favourite part about working with educators and schools?

My favourite part is seeing the real impact the right people can have on a child’s life. From my own experience as a parent, I know how important it is to have supportive, understanding staff who create a safe and positive environment. I love working closely with schools to understand what they truly need and then finding candidates who not only have the right skills but also the right mindset, people who can be strong role models and adapt to each child’s individual needs. Knowing that the right placement can support a child’s development, help a school thrive, and even support families like mine is what makes the role so rewarding.

If you could share one piece of advice with someone considering a career in education, what would it be?

My advice would be to truly understand the impact you have. Working in education isn’t just a job, you are shaping lives, often in ways you may not immediately see. Be patient, adaptable, and willing to go the extra mile, because every child is different and requires a different approach. If you can be a positive role model, build trust, and create a safe environment, you can make a lasting difference not only to a child, but to their family as well. It’s a challenging career but incredibly rewarding if you’re genuinely passionate about helping young people grow and succeed.
