With Christmas just around the corner I am sure we are all so eager to get into the Christmas Spirit that little bit more. It has been a lot harder this year to be able to do this year because of COVID. There are a lot of restrictions on what we can or cannot do. It is easy to let this put a downer on Christmas this year but it is important that we keep our spirits high. There is plenty more things to do other than visiting Christmas markets and attending Christmas events and this blog post is going to prove that. We are going to list a range of things you can do to help get you in the Christmas spirit, whilst sticking to COVID Rules and whilst staying safe.

Baking is a very festive activity you can do and it is something you can do with a range of people, your partner, friend, parents, lover, child and more. If you are not normally a baker, why not give it a go? There’s nothing nicer than the smell of freshly baked goods filling your home, making it all festive and warm. If baking is something you enjoy then why not try baking something different. There’s a wide variety of Christmas treats to bake too such as, cookies, gingerbread, toffee pudding, peppermint meringues, Christmas cake, cupcakes and many more!

Spend time with people

You might be a little bit sick of seeing your household by now but lets remember that you and your household have gone through this stressful time together. So why not do some fun activities together? Or just simply spend time in each others company, appreciating them. You could also spend quality time with the people in your bubble. The good thing about this blog post is that a lot of the activities mentioned, you are able to do with others. It is very important to spend time with others and to feel loved, especially around Christmas time.

Take a walk into the forest

There is a word in Japanese: “Shinrin” and this means “forest,” and the Japanese word “Yoku” means “bath.” So the term “Shinrin-Yoku” means bathing in the forest. Forest Bathing is when you place yourself in a woods/forest, surrounded by nature and take in the atmosphere through all of your senses. This is a perfect way to relax and to connect with nature by yourself or with others. December is a perfect time to do this because it is possible you will see robins, there will be a fresh icy breeze and possibly snow. So why not take a walk into your local woods for a little forest bathing one Christmassy afternoon.

Watch Films

Watching Christmas Films is such a great way to get into the Christmas spirit. You can make your living room area cosy too with festive decorations, fairy lights and blankets. To make it even better, make yourself a delicious hot chocolate with cream and toppings! Watching films is something you can do by yourself, with family and friends or your partner. Some of our favourite Christmas films are; The Polar Express, Harry Potter, The Grinch, The Snowman, Home Alone, Love Actually and of course anything Disney.

Get Creative

If you find yourself losing the Christmas spirit, getting creative is a great way to bring it back. There’s multiple ways you can be creative, such as making your own Christmas cards, decorating your tree, making your own reef, putting up Christmas decorations, making candles, baking, drawing, painting, building a gingerbread house, creating your own decorations and then of course wrapping up presents. Some would disagree but, wrapping up Christmas presents can be very therapeutic and fun, especially if you use your creativity and make your parcels look amazing.

Thank you for reading, we hope this post has given you some ideas on how to get into the Christmas spirit. We also hope that you all have a wonderful Christmas and a Happy New Year.
