About the Role
We are seeking a highly experienced and qualified SEMH Teaching Assistant to join our dedicated and specialist SEN provision within a mainstream primary school setting. This is a unique opportunity to be part of a small, elite team of professionals supporting a cohort of 12 pupils with extremely high social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs.
The successful candidate will play a vital role in providing consistent, nurturing, and structured support to pupils who require a high level of understanding, patience, and expertise.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide 1:1 and small group support to pupils with complex SEMH needs
- Implement personalised behaviour support strategies and interventions
- Support pupils in managing emotions, developing resilience, and engaging in learning
- Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCO, and external professionals
- Maintain a safe, structured, and supportive learning environment
- Accurately record and monitor pupil progress and behaviour
About You
- Proven experience working with children with SEMH needs in a school or specialist setting
- Relevant qualifications (e.g., Level 3 Teaching Assistant or above; SEMH or behaviour training desirable)
- Strong behaviour management skills and a calm, resilient approach
- Ability to build positive, trusting relationships with pupils
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- A genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs
