Year 6 Teaching Assistant/Intervention
About the Role:
We are seeking a dedicated, confident, and experienced Year 6 Teaching Assistant to work in a supportive primary school team in the CV22 area. This is a key role focused on supporting pupils in preparation for SATs, helping to build their confidence and ensure they are fully prepared to achieve their best.
Working Pattern:
- Starting after Easter, working every Thursday in the first instance
- Increasing to 4 days per week after May half term
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide targeted intervention support in Maths and English
- Work with small groups and on a 1:1 basis to raise attainment
- Support pupils with SATs preparation, including exam techniques and timed practice
- Actively build pupils’ confidence in their learning and test readiness
- Deliver focused support in spelling, reading, and comprehension
- Assist the class teacher in planning and delivering engaging learning activities
- Monitor and track pupil progress, providing feedback where appropriate
Essential Requirements:
- Previous experience working within a primary school setting, ideally in KS2
- Strong SATs experience and understanding of Year 6 expectations
- Proven ability to build pupil confidence and support progress
- Confidence delivering intervention sessions in Maths and English
- Ability to support pupils with exam techniques and time management skills
- Experience supporting children with reading, comprehension, and spelling development
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- A proactive, flexible, and supportive approach
Desirable:
- Relevant Teaching Assistant qualification (e.g., Level 2 or 3)
- Experience working with pupils of varying abilities
- SATs experience
