After 27 years of working as a primary teacher in the East Midlands it only seemed natural to become a recruitment consultant within the education sector. My knowledge of primary schools, teaching and learning and pedagogy is second to none within the sector. To put it simply; I understand the needs of both staff and schools.

My passion is supporting candidates new to the world of teaching to find their first role. Equally I love supporting highly experienced colleagues who are looking for a major change in their career. I’ve been there and can support through empathy and a huge knowledge of the sector.

If I was to offer a piece of advice to someone who is considering a career in education then it would be simply to do your homework. Make sure you have a clear picture of what schools are like, talk to a recruitment consultant who understands the uniqueness of the sector and isn’t focussed on targets and sales figures like so many are.

Just remember one thing, there is a whole world outside of education. Alongside working in primary education since 1992 I have a highly successful career as a Club DJ. I am living proof of transferrable skills being learnt from very different sectors. I could tell you some tales but lets leave that for another time…
