What is an unqualified teacher?
Teachers who haven’t achieved QTS, for whatever reason, are classed as unqualified. While you can teach in independent schools, academies, and free schools in England without QTS, if you want to work in a state school, you’ll need to pass the qualification, although in many schools, you can train as you work.
