Job Title: Catering Assistant

About the Role

We are seeking a friendly and hardworking Catering Assistant to join our school’s catering team. The successful candidate will support the preparation and serving of meals, maintain cleanliness in the kitchen and dining areas, and ensure a safe and welcoming environment for pupils and staff. This role offers both flexible and fixed hours across morning and afternoon shifts, all outside of core school times.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist with the preparation of food and beverages
• Serve meals to pupils and staff efficiently and safely
• Set up and clear down dining areas
• Maintain high standards of cleanliness in the kitchen, servery, and dining hall
• Wash dishes, utensils, and equipment
• Ensure all food hygiene and health & safety standards are followed
• Support the catering team as needed during busy periods
• Report any issues or hazards to the Catering Manager

Requirements

• Enhanced DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check — essential
• Right to work in the UK — essential
• UK Qualification (GCSEs, A-Levels etc)
• Food hygiene knowledge or certification (desirable but not essential)
• Previous catering or food service experience (preferred but not required)
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• Reliable, punctual, and professional
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment

Working Hours

• Monday to Friday
• All shifts take place in and out of school times
• Flexible or fixed hours available depending on candidate availability and school needs
