About the Role

We are seeking a dynamic, passionate, and inspiring Science Teacher to join our thriving secondary school in Derby. The successful candidate will deliver engaging and challenging lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4, fostering curiosity, critical thinking, and a lifelong love of science.

This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and committed teacher — whether experienced or newly qualified — to become part of a supportive and forward-thinking Science department.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, prepare, and deliver high-quality, differentiated lessons in line with the national curriculum.

  • Teach across KS3 and KS4, with the ability to specialise in Biology, Chemistry, or Physics at GCSE level desirable.

  • Assess, record, and report on student progress, attainment, and personal development.

  • Create a positive and inclusive learning environment that promotes academic achievement and pupil wellbeing.

  • Maintain high expectations for pupil behaviour and engagement.

  • Contribute to curriculum planning, departmental meetings, and extra-curricular science activities.

  • Participate in the wider life of the school, including pastoral duties and professional development.

About You

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is essential.

  • A degree in a Science-related discipline (Biology, Chemistry, Physics, or Combined Science).

  • Strong subject knowledge and the ability to engage students in hands-on, practical science.

  • Excellent classroom management, communication, and organisational skills.

  • A reflective practitioner committed to professional growth and collaboration.

  • A passion for promoting STEM education and inspiring young scientists.
